Climate Vulnerable Forum Trust Fund (CVFTF) Established

New York - On 25 September 2012, the Climate Vulnerable Forum Trust Fund (CVFTF), an initiative of the current (Bangladesh) and incoming (Costa Rica) Chairs of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), was established. The CVFTF Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Ms. Margareta Wahlström, Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction and head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), Mr. Jordan Ryan, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) of UNDP and Mr. Bisrat Aklilu, Executive, Coordinator of the MPTF Office that will  administer the CVFTF. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of H.E. Mr. Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, H.E. Enrique Castillo-Barrantes, Foreign Minister of Costa Rica and Mr. Ross Mountain, Director General of DARA. 

The CVF is an international platform for cooperation, coordination, advocacy and knowledge-building among developing countries that face significant insecurity due to climate change  and are determined to catalyze more effective and action for tackling the global climate challenge, internationally and nationally. The CVFTF is designed to mobilize and make available adequate, predictable and flexible finance to support the CVF’s activities.
