Financing climate action and nature-based solutions

Improving the environment requires collective action: global, regional, national, and local. Only through the establishment and maintenance of broad coalitions of committed partners can we tackle a compounded climate crisis. Solutions rely on innovative financing and multi-stakeholder instruments, which pooled funds offer. The MPTF Office administers a variety of climate and nature-based funds that include financing mechanisms for protecting forests, conserving biodiversity, supporting sustainable economic policymaking, and improving access to sustainable energy.

Climate-related blended financing is used to mobilize domestic resources and combine with international resources, coordinating diverse climate finance streams and developing incentive-based payment systems.
